Aims
- To introduce HL7 standards, increase HL7 use in Turkey
- To disseminate HL7 documents, to organize meetings and working sessions on HL7
Activities
During 2005 period, the main objective of TurkMIA (Turkish Medical Informatics Association) was creating awareness on HL7 in Turkey in all levels; individuals to industry and government. In 2005 period, TurkMIA organized and accomplished below activities:
- A Turkish document giving basic information on HL7 has been prepared and published on web
- An HL7 booth is prepared for Turkish National Congress of Medical Informatics on November 17-20, 2005 where attendees are informed about HL7 and Turkish document on HL7 was distributed.
- Dr. Kai U. Heitmann was invited to speak on HL7 in Turkish National Congress of Medical Informatics on November 17-20, 2005.
- Members of TURKMIA were informed about HL7 Turkey by e-mails.
During this period, it was decided that HL7 Turkey shall concentrate on prerequisite studies and no member should be accepted to HL7 Turkey before these studies are completed. We announced the proposed structure of HL7 Turkey; the members accepted accordingly starting in March 2006. HL7 Turkey Council is composed of a representative from TURKMIA, a representative from Ministry of Health, and several regular members. The details of membership are summarized in below table. HL7 Turkey is an autonomous, democratic subgroup of TURKMIA.
